What's an IP Address?

Your IP address is a number used to communicate with other devices in a network. It is exclusive to your device and indicates where your network host is located.

When you are accessing the internet, your IP address is visible to the pages you visit and to your internet service provider.

Psiphon masks your IP address so that when you are online, it looks like you are coming from a different location.

The IP address you see on this page is the address that websites will see – it appears as though you are coming from a different location.

In addition, Psiphon protects your activity by encrypting it, so that your Internet Service Provider cannot see your traffic.

Because they can’t see what you’re doing, they can’t block access to servers and they aren’t able to view what information is being sent or received.

What is Psiphon?

Psiphon software allows users from anywhere visit the entirety of the internet. Our servers are located all around the world, with users in more than 200 countries using our network to access apps and websites that would be otherwise inaccessible.

You can download Psiphon on iOS, Android and Windows

What makes Psiphon a unique tool?

Psiphon is a secure system that provides users with an encrypted link between clients and servers. Most of our network is through cloud providers, allowing us to provide simple connections for our users.

Most “Virtual Privacy Networks” use only a few protocols and have a limited number of servers. They are easy to block, because they don’t use many circumvention techniques and they are easily spotted by censors.

The combination of servers and protocols we use allows us to constantly shift our approach, so that it’s difficult for censors to block our connections. That’s why you can rely on Psiphon, even when VPNs fail you.

How do you protect my privacy?

Psiphon masks your IP address immediately. We don’t store your information, and we don’t require any kind of account creation.

No usernames, no passwords.

We don’t keep any information that could identify you personally, because we understand and respect the important of security.

Our software was not created for the purposes of encrypting traffic. However, we still take steps to protect your activity by using our own servers, implementing multiple techniques to obscure your traffic, and maintaining complete transparency of our software to allow for independent security assessments (which you can see here). That means we’re being held accountable for the promises we make, by third-parties with bias.
